TEJADA-TOVAR, CANDELARIA et al. COMPETITIVE ADSORPTION OF LEAD AND NICKEL ONT YAM HUSK AND PALM BAGASSE IN CONTINUOUS SYSTEM. Rev.Bio.Agro [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.1, pp.52-61. ISSN 1692-3561.  https://doi.org/10.18684/bsaa.v16n1.624.

Due to the contamination of water bodies, treatment for the removal of heavy metals is necessary, for this reason, it was sought to evaluate the adsorption capacity in binary system Nickel (II) and Lead (II) in solution using palm bagasse (BP) and yam shells (CÑ) in fixed bed column, evaluating the calcination of the remaining biomass for inactivation. Biomaterials were chemically modified with 0,6 M citric acid. Solutions were prepared at 100 ppm of Ni (II) and Pb (II), reaching adsorption capacities from 92,58 mg/g and 98,04 mg/g respectively, being the model of Thomas the one that better adjusted the data for adsorption of Ni (II) using both biomaterials. In the calcination stage of the biomass the metals remained in the ash and around 1 % of them were released by desorption. It is concluded that the BP and the CÑ are good precursors to generate bioadsorbents in the Ni (II) and Pb (II) removal and that the inactivation by calcination is viable for the final treatment of the residues.
