The role of 18F-FDG PET/CT for diagnosis of Paget's disease of bone with cranial and spinal compromise: case report and literature review. Rev.Colomb.Reumatol. [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.2, pp.166-172.  Epub 16-Maio-2024. ISSN 0121-8123.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rcreu.2021.05.009.

Paget's disease of the bone (PDB) is a benign disorder characterized by focal areas of bone turnover. So far, only 17 cases have been described in Colombia. We present the case of a 68-year-old male who presented with otorrhea and deafness. The skull x-rays and computerized tomography findings were suggestive of malignancy. Consequently, an 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed and demonstrated an intense uptake in the skull and the lumbar spine. The work up showed elevated alkaline phosphatase levels consistent with PDB and the biopsy ruled out other differential diagnoses. The patient received alendronate with symptomatic improvement and decreased alkaline phosphatase levels.
