The Caldas department Committee of Coffee Growers and Cenicafé, designed and applied a survey to 515 coffee growers of the department in order of know the present situation of coffee berry borer management CBBM applied to their farms. The survey was of personal type semi- structured, to diagnose the use of the different components of the CBBM. It consisted of 65 questions (20% general aspects, 65% components of the CBBM, 5% indicators and 10% questions of opinion). It was applied in 218 divisions belonging to 23 municipalities. 16,2% of the coffee growers affirm to have problems with the CBB. 94,3% frequently carries out gatherings of mature fruits. 61,9% carries out samplings of infestation of CBB. But 17,9% only applies the Federation recommended method. 75.6% considers that the chemical control is not enough. 62,3% applies insecticides, and only the 32% uses products category III. 37, 2% knows the biological control; however, only 16,6% applies Beauveria bassiana . In post harvest 60% implements some control method but not all as a whole. In general 49% of the coffee growers the CBBM bases on opportune harvest and application of insecticides. The obtained information will serve to make adjustments in the investigation and transfer processes related with the CBBM to facilitate the coffee growers its implementation by coffe growers.
