HOLGUIN, V. A; ORTIZ GRISALEZ, S; VELASCO NAVIA, A e MORA-DELGADO, J. MULTI-CRITERIA EVALUATION OF 44 INTRODUCTIONS OF Tithonia diversifolia (Hemsl.) A. Gray IN CANDELARIA, VALLE DEL CAUCA. Rev. Med. Vet. Zoot. [online]. 2015, vol.62, n.2, pp.57-72. ISSN 0120-2952. https://doi.org/10.15446/rfmvz.v62n2.5199.
Fodder production, the main source of cattle feed, has generated high quality protein in meat and milk to meet human needs. Choosing fodder should not only be based on agronomic properties, but also its nutritional value, palatability and toxicity for livestock. This study aimed to evaluate the forage production response of 44 introductions of T diversifolia, from various localities in the west central Colombia, established in a collection at the National University Palmira (CEUNP) Experimental Center, Candelaria (Colombia). Coordinates 2°06' N and 65°03' W, with a temperature of 26 ° C and average annual precipitation de1532 mm. Morpho-agronomic and nutritional indicators of the 44 introductions were evaluated; these are then classified using multivariate statistics and the subsequent implementation of integral indices (Weighted Forage Potential Index and Weighted Index Performance and Quality). Eigth introductions of higher yields and better nutritional quality were selected; then only four were identified as the most promising (17.9; 22.14; 13.5 and 1.2). We conclude that the use of multi-integral indices facilitates the selection of materials yielders, based on different criteria of adaptability, productivity and quality of species.
