This article deals with the representation of Colombian Indians by El Tiempo, the only newspaper of national circulation at the time of the study (2004-2006). Using the linguistic and communicative model proposed by Colombian linguist Luis Alfonso Ramírez Peña, such representations are analyzed from this culture's voices, ideas and imaginaries. The goal of the study is to define the communicative model used by El Tiempo which contributes-as given by its nature and occurrence-to the consolidation of the relationships, behaviors, and identities of the interaction between the country's dominant and minority cultures.
