The words Empire and Imperialism are colored terms by circumstances of time and place. Without a doubt, the Roman Empire is considered an episode in the humankind history that denoted many institutions that still survive in our times, including international law to which it was pointed out a universal and independent vocation. This article is the result of the analysis of these terms and their influence on the chore of international law, which its mission is to trend for a unified and relevant right to all States, but that, because of the contemporary materialization of empire and imperialism, it is at risk of losing its two fundamental pillars, the universality and independence.
