GUERRERO, Mario Guillermo. Citizenry, a hydra with a thousand conceptual heads: brief considerations and a dialog between diverse perspectives. Rev. Fac. Derecho Cienc. Polit. - Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2021, vol.51, n.135, pp.396-422.  Epub 05-Jan-2022. ISSN 0120-3886.  https://doi.org/10.18566/rfdcp.v51n135.a05.

The aim of this work is to offer a brief systematization of the disciplinary discussion about the concept of citizenry to identify some notes that allow ordering the theoretical discussion on the problem.

In the Latin American context, which has itself been traversed by neo-populisms, right turns, and coup reminiscences typical of the last century, re-thinking the citizenry concept becomes of great importance to re-define its limits and current scope being able with this, to constitute alternative responses to the processes that, as a Latin American community, we are going through.

This way, the proposed analysis will allow to conclude that citizenry has shown to be a product of the interaction not just of the members that belong to a political community, but also of how the interaction between citizens, quasi-citizens, and non-citizens has been, resulting in logics of conflict and consensus construction among social actors.

Palavras-chave : Citizenry; regulation theories; empirical theories; political community.
