We attempt a mise-en-scène of the dwelling modes adopted by solitary individuals in huge urban centres. It is an experience we can gain access to via anthropologic observation and phenomenological interpretation. From here, we derive the concept of "ego-sphere", which in turn can contribute to understanding better how individuals in fact live within their habitat; i.e., the apartment. This includes their private lives as well as their relationship with what we call city and society. This all occurs in the wider context of what has been called a "globalized world", which seems to lose sight of the here and now that the real, concrete, breathing human being experiences.
