A man 67-year-old with heartburn, epigastric pain and dyspeptic chronic symptoms; an esophagogastric endoscopy showed an eritematous and slightly depressed lesion 2 cm diameter in the medium third of esophagus. The histopathological study of endoscopic biopsies demonstrated a squamous cell carcinoma. Transhiatal esophagectomy was performed for treatment. The anatomopathological study of surgical specimen confirmed a type IIc intramucosal (m1) incipient squamous cell carcinoma. Patient remained 5 years free of disease
