The problem of linguistic choice is one of the main objects of analysis within the language sciences, particularly in the field of sociolinguistics. However, there is a lack of studies that explicitly address the language choices made by linguists themselves and systematically inquire about their metalinguistic reflections on their own preferences and rejections. In this sense, this article intends to expose the contributions developed about the concept of linguistic autobiography, a notion that, in our work, refers to a self-referential text, in which the linguist -its author- reflects on the language choices he has had to do in the framework of their profession or other area of their life, as well as the reasons on which they are based.
