MIRANDA MERCADO, David Alejandro; VARGAS CARRENO, Elga Johanna  e  ZAMORA RANGEL, Carlos Javier. Electrical impedivity in the early detection of cervical cancer. Rev. Univ. Ind. Santander. Salud [online]. 2010, vol.42, n.3, pp.212-219. ISSN 0121-0807.

The electrical impedivity spectroscopy (EIS) is a technique used to study the electrical properties of the materials, including human tissue. The objective of this research was the comparison between EIS and the cervix histopathology and determinate the capability of the EIS to differentiate between normal and neoplastic tissue. In this research, the electrical impedivity spectrum in cervical tissue was measured in vivo and ex vivo. The EIS measures were compared with the histopathological study results for each tissue. A significant correlation in the discrimination between the normal and abnormal tissue was obtained (p < 0.05). The results of this research could be employed in the future studies for validation of new diagnostic techniques using the histopathology results as the gold standard. Salud UIS 2010; 42: 212-219

Palavras-chave : Uterine cervical neoplasms; early detection of cancer; electric impedivity.
