TRUJILLO FLORES, Mara Maricela; VALDERRABANO ALMEGUA, María de la Luz  e  HERNANDEZ MENDOZA, René. Mobbing: history, causes, effects and proposal for a model for Mexican organisations. Innovar [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.29, pp.71-92. ISSN 0121-5051.

This work used an organisational approach towards presenting the state of the art regarding the phenomenon of mobbing, focusing on factors causing it and the consequences for victims and organisations. Different international models were thus analysed for diagnosing and quantifying mobbing; it was found that different investigators have developed models for quantifying it, but none of them have considered that mobbing could be related to other variables such as emotional intelligence. Based on the foregoing, and considering México’s social and cultural context and individuals’ psychological aspects, a model is proposed including emotional intelligence as a variable for Mexican organisations. The model represents a diagnostic tool for Mexican institutions leading to preventative and control measurements being drawn up, thereby contributing towards improving health in the workplace and the productiveness of the personnel working in them, since what is important is anticipating phenomena for avoiding the damage which could be caused to individuals (i.e. regarding an organisation’s human capital).

Palavras-chave : mobbing; work stress; psychological harassment; moral harassment; organisation; organisational culture; working setting.
