VILA LOPEZ, Natalia  e  KUSTER BOLUDA, Inés. Does Internationalization Drive a Family Business Into Success? Case in the Textile Sector. Innovar [online]. 2015, vol.25, n.56, pp.43-52. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v25n56.48988.

This paper focuses on the effects of internationalization strategies in the success of family firms, considering success as a combination of business results (financial outputs such as sales or profits) and performance indicators (satisfaction, perceived quality, corporate reputation, employees abilities, among others). With this purpose, general managers of 154 textile family businesses were surveyed by mail in order to inquire about the internationalization degree of their companies. Afterwards, international and non-international firms were compared within three sets of variables: (i) the international activity performed, (ii) financial results, and (iii) performance of the indicators obtained. The carried out analysis led to conclude that internationalized companies obtain superior financial results compared with non-internationalized firms, notwithstanding, the performance indicators do not differ significantly between these two.

Palavras-chave : Internationalization; business results; competitive advantages.
