CHACON-HENAO, Juliana  e  ARIAS-PEREZ, José. The Not Invented Here Syndrome, Knowledge Sabotage, and Breakthrough Performance: The Role of Employee Awareness on Artificial Intelligence. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.1, pp.131-143.  Epub 30-Jun-2022. ISSN 0121-6805.  https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.5945.

On a global scale, companies continue to advance in the implementation of artificial intelligence and robotization for technological development and product and service innovation; however, to achieve this successfully, they encounter internal obstacles, such as knowledge sabotage and the not-invented-here syndrome, which hinder the development of new products. This study analyzes the relationship between knowledge sabotage, the not- invented-here syndrome, and innovative performance and the moderating effect of awareness regarding artificial intelligence and robotization. The testing of the research model was carried out using structural equations in a sample of medium and low technology manufacturing and service companies in Medellín. It recognized that the not- invented-here syndrome positively influences the sabotage of knowledge and this acts negatively on innovative performance. The findings increase the literature on an emerging topic in Colombia such as the sabotage of knowledge and encourage research regarding the effect of artificial intelligence and robotization.
