This was carried out in 2009, and it condenses the reflection on the researchyears carried out by the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Department of Social Medicine, in the National University of Rosario, (UNR - Argentina), in the city of Rosario and the province of Santa Fe. The objective was to interpret the contradictions in the discourses present in the implementation of health promotion and the rules that govern them, that permeate common sense by creating values, often in disagreement with the objectives of health programs. The methodology was based on the analysis of researches carried out in the Santa Fe providence, as well as official documents related to health. The results unveil the meaning of truthfulness of mandates constructed to achieve a healthy lifestyle. The latter is discussion within the limits of Modernity - Post-Modernity, that in the case of health sciences, the debate shifts towards normative practices that rely on the "scientific truth". The conclusions discussed obstacles presented by this mode of action in order to achieve epidemiological transformations that enable the longed goal of health for all in the study area.
