OTERO, Analia Elizabeth  e  BARRERA, Yael Yanina. Reflections about Social Insecurity and Criminal Matters. A Strategic Response Based on Cooperative Experiences with Former Detainees in Argentina. Prospectiva [online]. 2021, n.31, pp.393-412.  Epub 01-Jan-2021. ISSN 0122-1213.  https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i31.10334.

The literature on young people from popular sectors shows the multiple difficulties of accessibility to the world of work that this population has. Those who also carry the stigma of criminal conviction find themselves in an even more disadvantageous situation, not only because of the degrading impact of having spent time in prison, but also because of their criminal record, which makes them particularly vulnerable. On the other hand, there are visible experiences that express the construction of inclusive roads to people who leave prison from collective work, such as cooperatives of former detainees. This article seeks, through the analysis of an experience made up mainly of young people from popular sectors with a criminal record, a contribution to the study of possible strategies to expand their opportunities to access the world of work. Next, the serious current situation of the prison system is mapped and a valuable Argentine cooperative experience that emerged in 2015 is analyzed. Finally, we reflect on how this cooperative and self-managed experience managed to consolidate over time and expand its work areas to those who seek promote the social and labor integration of former detainees.
