SANFILIPPO, Renzo. The Translation of Travelers’ Literature in the Intellectual Correspondence of José Luis Busaniche (1934 - 1951). Anu.hist.reg.front. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.93-124.  Epub 23-Dez-2021. ISSN 0122-2066.  https://doi.org/10.18273/revanu.v27n1-202200.

Between the 1930s and 1950s, the Argentinian historian José Luis Busaniche translated the stories of European travelers of the Nineteenth-century to Spanish. In this opportunity, his letters with M. Leguizamón, E. Ravigani, and A. Paulin are analyzed to trace the historical conditions that made possible the production and publication of his translations. The article contains a biographical review, a chapter about the editorial context of the first half of the Twentieth-century, an examination of his public and privates discourses referring to the works of W. Yates (1941) and of J.A, Graaner (1949), and a closing on the impact of his translations in his career and the historiographic field. It is concluded that professional history was limited in terms of travel literature diffusion but it is understood that the practice of translation allowed Busaniche to elaborate historical sources which are recovered nowadays by the academic sphere.
