BAEZ QUINONES, Nadia et al. Economic Analysis of the Use of Royal Palm Nut Meal in Broilers Feeding. Cienc. Tecnol. Agropecuaria [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.3, e3274.  Epub 30-Out-2023. ISSN 0122-8706.  https://doi.org/10.21930/rcta.vol24_num3_art:3274.

Although royal palm nut has been studied in the feeding of monogastric animals, little is known about its viability from an economic point of view in broiler chickens. The use of royal palm nut meal, the fruit of Roystonearegia, for broilers feeding was economically evaluated. The experimental diet data and the results of productive performance were taken. The direct costs involved in the meal production were considered. The ration costs and some economic indicators were estimated for the different treatments (0; 5; 10; 15 % inclusion of royal palm nut meal in the ration). In addition, the economic sustainability of the system before the inclusion of meal in the ration was determined. In all cases, the costs of diet and feeding decreased as the inclusion of royal palm nut meal increased. The feeding costs per ton of live weight produced decrease in 4,31 and 2,35 % for treatments 10 and 15 % inclusion of royal palm nut meal in the ration, respectively. It is shown that the inclusion of royal palm nut meal in the diet of broilers constitutes an economically sustainable alternative, even more so that it is a food resource of local production, it contributes to substituting imports of traditional raw materials and expensive.
