This work reflects on the emergence of the cyberpunk aesthetic in Argentina during the eighties by analyzing Carlos Gardini's story "Primera línea" ("First line"). This text is the first manifestation of the cyberpunk aesthetic in the country and the first to represent the Falklands War in the local cultural scene. The article proposes an approach to the emergence of the cyborg body (symbiosis between human and machine) in a social historical and national cultural setting that in the latter part of the last Argentine civilian-military dictatorship was impregnated with questions regarding the body: the absent body, the tortured body, the body mutilated in war.
