LOPEZ-CASAS, Silvia  e  JIMENEZ-SEGURA, Luz F.. REPRODUCTION AND FEEDING OF NICURO, PIMELODUS BLOCHII (VALENCIENNES, 1840) (PISCES: PIMELODIDAE), IN CACHIMBERO FLOODPLAIN LAKE, MAGDALENA RIVER BASIN, COLOMBIA. Actu Biol [online]. 2007, vol.29, n.87, pp.193-201. ISSN 0304-3584.

We analyzed trophic and reproductive aspects of Pimelodus blochii in the Cachimbero floodplain lake (Magdalena river basin, Colombia) in three raining periods of year 2003. We collected 384 individuals with a total biomass of 31.4 kg and a standard length (LS) interval between 52.4 and 253.0 mm. Differences were not observed neither on the catches among three periods of the pluviometric cycle, nor among sampling stations. The allometric coefficient (b) and the condition factor did not show differences among pluviometric periods or sexes. Population was mainly represented by immature individuals. On October 2003, we observed a gonadic matureness peak for females. Relative number of oocytes was equal between in stomach contents, we pluviometric raining periods. Sex ratio showed a greater number of females than males. Females gonadosomatic and hepatosomatic relationships showed a seasonal fluctuation. Found aquatic and terrestrial animal fragments of at least 16 taxa, it suggests that this species has a wide trophic niche and an a opportunistic omnivorous feeding behaviour.
