GUZMAN-TOVAR, César. Fragmented Subjectivities? Scientific Profiles and Research Styles: Five Case Studies in Mexico. Trilogía. Cienc. Tecnol. Soc. [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.23, pp.108-139.  Epub 15-Jul-2020. ISSN 2145-7778.  https://doi.org/10.22430/21457778.1602.

The article discusses the approaches that have been used to analyze the production of scientific knowledge in recent decades. Drawing on an empirical case study in five research institutions in Mexico, the trajectories and practices of scientists are reconstructed to describe the profiles and research styles developed daily. This is intended to give an account of the specific ways in which science is done in the country. From a subject-oriented STS approach (micro level), this research shows that Mexican scientists do not always align their research practices with Modes 1 & 2 of knowledge production. The action of the Triple Helix in the research carried out by the country's scientists is not clear either. As a result, the need to create new knowledge production analysis frameworks in Latin America has been raised. The methodology used led to three types of scientist profiles.
