ARENAS-ESCASO, Juan Francisco; FOLGADO-FERNANDEZ, José A.  e  PALOS-SANCHEZ, Pedro R.. Digital Free Tourism (DFT) or disconnecting and reconnecting: An economic and tourism opportunity. suma neg. [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.28, pp.39-49.  Epub 19-Jan-2023. ISSN 2215-910X.  https://doi.org/10.14349/sumneg/2022.v13.n28.a5.

Introduction/Objective:

The tourism industry is designing products and services for those users who consciously wish to reduce or renounce technology during their trips and can make it a reality. This has led to the emergence of a new trend called Digital Free Tourism (DFT) or digital disconnection tourism, conceived as an improvement of the tourist’s own relationships, social life and wellbeing. The main objective of this research is to present a research path for the academic world and to provide an analysis focused on the DFT offer in the Spanish market, as it is one of the countries with most international tourists worldwide.

Methodology:

To this end, a methodology of content searches in bibliographic databases is used.

Results:

The results and findings are limited and there are no connections in destinations that bring together DFT elements, which may represent an emerging market niche and the economic opportunity to generate a network of DFT tourism services.

Conclusions:

The implications of this work can be useful for managers and administrators in the tourism sector for the generation of synergies and strategic alliances and be a prologue for new studies and lines of research.
