The author of the article presents the results of an investigation on the ritual discourse, its characterization and forms of appearance in the communication which human beings establish with the supernatural. The kinds of rites are analyzed, and the concept of bewilderment as a core concept in the definition of ritual discourse. Also, some observable characteristics in the intercourse between living and dead beings commonly known as witchery, are presented. Finally, the tombstones and epitaphs as a further element which constitutes tanatosemiological processes, are briefly mentioned.
