SILVA VILLENA, OMER. What is the new course of psycholinguistics?. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2005, n.18, pp.229-249. ISSN 0120-338X.

The author writes an introductory review on the preoccupation of distinguished thinkers in the history of studies on the relationship between language and thought. In the same way the periods of psycholinguistics as a science of human communication are analyzed: as being formative, linguistic and cognitive, as well as having the characteristics of cognitive science. One of the main issues is related to the model of basic speech and comprehension construction as designed by W. Levelt, director of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Netherlands). This model includes the evocation of communicative intention, message generation, their encoding, the articulation of real speech, phonetic representation in the decoding, message inference, processing of the intention of discourse and comprehension. Finally, a preview on the course of psycholinguistics in this millennium and its projections towards the understanding of the homo loquens is given.
