URIBE, Carlos E et al. Slow coronary flow phenomenon: Register of 140 patients in the Abood Shaio Clinic. Rev. Col. Cardiol. [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.2, pp.87-92. ISSN 0120-5633.

Slow flow phenomenon has been considered as a benign finding in coronary angiography. Recently, it is described as a syndrome rather than an isolated angiographic finding. A descriptive retrospective study of 140 patients with slow coronary flow phenomenon is presented. It was found most frequently in men (75%). 50.7% had hypertension and 59% had dyslipemia. Cigarette- smoking was an important factor in 36% patients. Initial most frequent clinical presentation was acute coronary syndrome (60%), followed by non-specific chest pain (35%). An important 52% of patients had previous hospitalizations due to chest pain, pointing out the recurrence of this entity. Most patients (74%) had had no significant coronary disease (defined as >50%), which agrees with previous published series and could suggest that this disease is a syndrome that differs from coronary disease, and has a different behaviour.

Palavras-chave : slow coronary flow; acute coronary syndrome; microcirculation; angiography.
