ARISTIZABAL, Julián et al. Giant cell myocarditis with complete persistent A-V block: treatment response with cardiac resynchronization. Rev. Colom. Cardiol. [online]. 2009, vol.16, n.4, pp.178-181. ISSN 0120-5633.

Giant cell myocarditis is an infrequent and serious illness, possibly of autoimmune etiology, characterized by the presence of multinucleated giant cells with inflammatory infiltrate and extensive necrosis in the endomyocardial biopsy. Its association with ventricular tachycardia is common and alterations in atrioventricular conduction are frequently solved through immunosuppressive treatment. Given the generally complex prognosis of this entity, the role of the resynchronization devices after the heart failure stabilization, is unclear. We reported a case in which the implant of one of these devices was a fundamental part of the therapy and patient recovery.

Palavras-chave : myocarditis; heart failure; heart block; cardiac resynchronization.
