GOMEZ-ROSERO, Jaime Alberto  e  SIERRA-VARGAS, Elsy Cristina. Truths and controversies about coagulation in non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Rev. Colomb. Cardiol. [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.5, pp.279-285. ISSN 0120-5633.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rccar.2019.07.006.

Atrial fibrillation is the most common clinically significant arrhythmia that may be encountered by general and specialist doctors. This disorder increases the risk of a cerebrovascular accident by five times. The current evidence prefers the use of direct action oral anticoagulants over warfarin for the prevention of cardioembolic events in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation in the absence of contraindications. Using a series of questions and answers, the most important aspects will be discussed in this article, as well as some controversies about anticoagulation in non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

Palavras-chave : Atrial fibrillation; Ischaemic cerebrovascular accident; Direct action oral anticoagulants; Warfarin.
