SALAZAR, Dora I. Molina de  e  FERREIRA, Ángela P.. Role of women in the development of science and clinical research. Rev. Colomb. Cardiol. [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.3, pp.193-198.  Epub 03-Jul-2023. ISSN 0120-5633.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rccar.m23000204.

Over time, women have managed to slowly enter different fields of science, politics, education, and research, but there is still a lack of gender equity, which can cause negative results in success and progress of women in these areas. A systematic search was carried out in the PubMed, SciELO, and Cochrane Library databases, the NIH research portfolios on gender equality were reviewed, on how women entered research studies and how this participation influenced their health.; evidencing the lack of women in the leadership of clinical trials, as well as the participation in these, which leads to the limited understanding of the influence of sex and gender in the presentation of various diseases, especially those related to chronic diseases that influence with cardiovascular health or also other situations such as knowing the differences in the response to pain between men and women, which makes it relevant to generate government policies that encourage greater participation of women in society, and likewise that the women seek empowerment of their health, of their life in society.
