FAJARDO, AUSBERTO RODRIGO  e  IBARRA CASTILLO, ADRIANA. Own education within the framework of human rights cabildo Pastos Gran Putumaya. Rev. Derecho [online]. 2023, n.59, pp.31-50.  Epub 30-Jan-2024. ISSN 0121-8697.  https://doi.org/10.14482/dere.59.302.587.

The indigenous community of the Cabildo Pastos Gran Putumayo, located in Villa Rosa 2 in the municipality of Mocoa (Putumayo), has seen its cultural identity threatened, as a result of human rights violations. These violations directly affect the autonomy of its territory, which acts as an epicenter for generating and disseminating knowledge. With cultural development and practices being curtailed, this allows recognition and self-development for the prolongation of life; that is, self-determination as an indigenous People. It is important to rescue their territory and allow the indigenous community to exercise their authority and their spirituality, considered fundamental axes in the strengthening of their identity.

The task of human rights is to protect the identity of indigenous People, to recognize cultural diversity along with their differences, their interests and their needs, thus promoting respect for the uses and customs of an entire territory.

In view of the lack of promises and protection on the part of the State and exercising a culture of peace, the indigenous community have committed themselves via their cultural practices, linking them to the recovery, strengthening and protection of their rights, in the exercise of their autonomy and maintaining their identity.

Palavras-chave : Pastos Gran Putumayo Indigenous Community; cultural identity; territory; Human Rights; autonomy.
