The objective of the study was to understand how the socio-environmental factors of urban violence are immersed in the processes of school convivence in three public educational institutions of the city of Pasto (Colombia). Qualitative research was developed from a phenomenological approach; the information was obtained through observation, semi-structured interviews and focus groups. As a result was obtained the description of the socioeconomic, political, territorial and family control factors that can affect the experience of values, conflict resolution, regulatory adjustment and interpersonal relationships, fundamental elements of school coexistence.
