Safe work environments contribute to a better performance of employees in their activities in the company. Hence, the importance of having occupational safety management systems in accordance with current regulations. This research work delves into the current state of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System in micro and small companies located in the center of the city of Sincelejo-Sucre, based on theoretical references such as Patlán (2016), expresses the quality of life and labor formality. Barrios & Paravic (2006), point out the benefit of healthy and protected work environments. Antúnez (2016), mentions the different management systems. Hernández (2018), refers to Mipymes as growing companies and promoters of employment sources. In addition, Resolution 0312 of 2019 and NTC-ISO 9001 of 2015, among others. The research is of a mixed approach, of a descriptive type and there was a sample of 50 companies. The results exposed the relevance of unifying efforts for the accompaniment, management of resources and effective information for entrepreneurs on the subject. The study allowed to conclude, the reality of a weak system in occupational health and safety and the lack of knowledge of the norm.
