The main objective of this article is to describe the state of the art on the perception of nursing care for hospitalized cancer patients. For this, an integrative review was performed in 16 databases between 1994 and 2014, taking into account the perception descriptors, nurse-patient relationship, hospitalization, and oncology, with their translations in English and directed by the descriptor Boolean AND. Thus found 52 publications on nurse-patient relationship hospitalized cancer; also it became clear that these have been increasing, particularly in the last decade. Most of the publications are qualitative, revisions or reflections. In reviewing overall academic productivity, multiple ways to approach this relationship from a conceptual point of view were identified; however, it seems to be its condition of reciprocity that is most enriching parts, allowing subjects exchanged between life care when you have cancer grow as people and win in introspection. So the nurse-patient relationship with hospital cancer is central to understanding and to qualify care practices of this population. It is necessary to develop measurement strategies and qualification of this interaction.
