This article deals with the emergence of informal street vendors in colonial Lima and the management of the authorities to eradicate them. In the capital of the viceroyalty of Peru, reggatonería was denounced by the authorities for the informal retail sale of basic necessities, bought wholesale. Informality was the constant activity in the streets of Lima and the authorities even tried to formalize the haggling trade with unsuccessful attempts, offering it to the formal merchants who sold in the "drawers". " wooden portables, stationed near the Plaza Mayor of the city, so that they can obtain profits and be able to comply with their tax obligations.
