ZULUAGA-SANCHEZ, Gloria-Patricia  e  ARANGO-VARGAS, Carolina. Female farmers: resistance, organization and agroecology in the midst of armed conflict. Cuad. Desarro. Rural [online]. 2013, vol.10, n.72, pp.159-180. ISSN 0122-1450.

This article is based on two research projects conducted with the Asociación de Mujeres Organizadas de Yolombó (AMOY), located in a Colombian rural area impacted by an armed conflict that has caused scarcity and high food prices, among many other effects. A qualitative methodology was used in order to analyze the links between gender and the preservation of livelihoods. It was found that women are positioned as producers, but it tends to be depoliticized because their work is perceived as an extension of their role as carers, hindering the achievement of major social transformations in terms of attaining gender equality.

Palavras-chave : Rural women's organization; gender; armed conflict; Rurality; women workers; social transformation; agriculture; civil resistance.
