The presence of irony in the literary text allows a critical discourse whose strategy seeks to expose the contradictions and defects of the society through a game that requires a distinction between being and appearing. This article proposes an analysis of the different forms and figures where irony is manifested in the novel Recursos humanos (2007) by Mexican writer Antonio Ortuño. The use of irony through parody, cynicism, and sarcasm allows the author to make a scathing criticism of the individualism of the working world.
