Introduction: the Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity (ADDH) is one of the most frequent neuro-behavioral alterations in childhood. Family dysfunction is a risk variable on the evolution of the symptoms. The objective was to analyze and compare parental styles among children with and without ADDH. Methodology: ex post facto design with two groups, one of them being quasi control. Two scales were applied to evaluate parental styles. Results: both the ADDH children and their parents perceive the more rigid and indulgent and less inductive parental style characterized by a tendency to manifest more criticism and less acceptance and affection on the part of the parents. Conclusions: the findings enable the development of effective discipline and communications techniques in clinical intervention with families with ADDH children.
