Abstract
GOMEZ, Gerardo; POMA CORNEJO, Heber David and MARQUEZ MEDINA, Luis Antonio. FINANCIAL AND SAVING CULTURE AMONG FAMILIES IN PERU. Semest. Econ. [online]. 2025, vol.28, n.64, a4755. Epub Aug 11, 2025. ISSN 0120-6346. https://doi.org/10.22395/seec.v28n64a4755.
The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between financial culture and savings culture among families in the city of Piura, Peru. The approach was quantitative, and the research type was descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional. The population consisted of citizens between 18 and 65 years of age who reside in the districts of Veintiséis de Octubre, Castilla, and Piura. The sample included 384 individuals with savings habits. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire, and Spearman Rho coefficient was used for data analysis. The results demonstrated a positive and significant relationship between savings culture and financial culture among families in Peru. A medium level of financial culture was also determined. Individuals or families in Peru who have a consistent saving habit tend to possess a level of financial culture that is not highly developed but is sufficient to decide to save their money in a financial institution. This leads to the conclusion that the financial culture of families needs to be strengthened in order to make financial decisions that positively impact both economic and social well-being.
