Abstract

CORREA-MONTOYA, Laura  and  OSORIO-VILLEGAS, Juan. Research-Creation Laboratories: A Convergence of Media Archaeology, Digital Humanities, and Artistic Practices. La Palabra [online]. 2024, n.48, 18323.  Epub Nov 27, 2024. ISSN 0121-8530.  https://doi.org/10.19053/uptc.01218530.n48.2024.18323.

This paper investigates the intersection of Digital Humanities, media archaeology, and experimental artistic practices within research-creation laboratories, focusing on their role as sites of methodological innovation, collaborative inquiry, and creative problem-solving. Through a systematic analysis of practical experiences, these laboratories emerge as invaluable pedagogical and methodological frameworks that cultivate transdisciplinarity and foster new forms of knowledge production. The results highlight how interactions among technology, art, and memory-particularly those encompassing both analog and digital devices-expand the discursive boundaries of Digital Humanities and engender novel narrative forms. Special attention is given to "offline" practices, underscoring the potential of these laboratories to challenge established modes of dissemination and mediation. Ultimately, this study identifies research-creation laboratories as pivotal spaces for critical reflection on the evolving relevance, scope, and communicative strategies of the Digital Humanities.
