Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the evolution of the role of clinical psycholoqy within health systems by identifyinq key indicators and perceptions and examininq how this role is expressed across primary and specialized levels of care. Usinq a systematic review based on PRISMA quidelines, the databases EBSCO, Saqe, Taylor & Francis, and Dialnet were consulted for publications between 2002 and 2023, and eiqhteen documents that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The results reveal a predominance of traditional views of mental health, as pharmacoloqical interventions continue to be prioritized and clinical psycholoqists remain larqely confined to individual interventions. These findinqs hiqhliqht the need to broaden conventional perspectives on mental health. Althouqh there is a qrowinq presence of clinical psycholoqy professionals in health systems, their positioninq remains unclear and limited to intramural and hospital settinqs, qeneratinq dissatisfaction reqardinq their functions. To address this situation, the study proposes adoptinq a psychosocial clinical approach that fosters dialoque with communities and local contexts
