Abstract
MARIN-GUTIERREZ, Lorena; CARVAJAL-RIOS, Sofía and SOTO-NARVAEZ, María Juliana. Amulets for fearless wandering: using textile objects as a methodological tool in research-creation. CS [online]. 2025, n.47, a05. Epub Mar 11, 2026. ISSN 2011-0324. https://doi.org/10.18046/recs.i47.05.
This article presents the design of a research-creation methodological tool based on the making of a textile amulet to be displayed in public space. The proposal was developed in Cali, Colombia (2020-2022), through a process focused on women's city inhabiting experiences and on exploring how intimate textile practices, such as sewing circles, can foster exchange spaces in urban settings. Results highlight that the textile amulet acts as a qualitative tool that brings together orality, materiality, and affect, thus enabling situated forms of encounter, con-versation, and circulation of experiences in the public space.
