Abstract

With the origin of cooperatives in the world came the need to establish values and legislatures to regulate the actions and behaviors of these entities which Have a great feature and influence since the concept of ownership, and control is standard in the members of this production unit. Therefore, this research paper aims to determine the degree of applicability of cooperative principles in the two main cities of the department of Tolima, Colombia to open an ethical dilemma about the importance of its application and the perceptions of partners and managers. For this purpose, the quality-quantitative method was used and the survey technique, whose sample was 1001 for Ibague and 454 for El Espinal. The sample is stratified, and the type of study is descriptive, using Likert Scale tool. The results identify the efficient use of cooperative principles institutions in the cooperative sector of Ibague and Espinal, the number of partners that identify them and how they perceive the appropriate application of the principles in the cooperatives. In conclusion, the article opens the ethical dilemma about the low level of knowledge of partners about the principles of cooperation.
