In this research the effect of geometrical and physical factors of Guadua angustifolia kunth such as external diameter, length, wall thickness and moisture content on the proportional limit was studied. According to the methodology used by Diaz and González (1992) Guadua specimens were subjected to pure flexure test with span length that varies between 2,5m to 3m. The statistical results showed that for moisture contents between 9%-12% dry basis and lengths of 2,5m to 3 m, these parameters in addition with the wall thickness have not effect on the proportional limit but there is an effect of the external diameter on the proportional limit of the Guadua.
