Abstract

In this study some models for calculating the annular pressure losses in casing drilling are presented. The conventional one as well as a model developed by Wei and Diaz are included. The models try to show the effect of some parameters such as well geometry, eccentricity and rotation on the hydraulics of this type of drilling. Before the exposition of the models, the basic concepts and the Bottom Hole Assembly used by the technique are presented. In order to study these models a Visual Fortran 6.0 routine was made. Additionally, some graphs, allowing to analyze the theoretical concepts and to observe the effect of drilling conditions on the hydraulic design, were constructed.
