Abstract

ARANGO, LUIS; CARMONA, JUAN; VALLEJO, ELKIN  and  HOYOS, BIBIAN. ADDITIVES EFFECT ON NICKEL COATINGS HARDNESS WITH PULSE CURRENT. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2006, vol.73, n.150, pp.59-66. ISSN 0012-7353.

An experimental research for evaluating the effect of additives inclusion (sodium saccharine and ammonium chloride) and rectangular current waveforms in nickel electroplating on copper substrate using Watts and Sulfamate baths was made. Bright coatings with high hardness were obtained using sodium saccharine; on the other hand, dull deposits and a hardness negligible effect, were found with ammonium chloride. Surface morphology changes were detected by means of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).

Keywords : Pulse current; Additives; Hardness; Electroplating; Nickel.
