Abstract
LOPERA POSADA, ELIANA and AGUIRRE CARDONA, JAIME. PURIFICATION OF MINERAL INSULATING OIL CONTAMINATED WITH POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCB’s). Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2006, vol.73, n.150, pp.75-88. ISSN 0012-7353.
In this work is given a brief description of the methods for elimination of PCB´s and it goes deeply in chemical treatment. Four different processes of chemical destruction were chosen, with which they were carried out laboratory experiments, and according with the obtained results, KPEG process was the most appropriated from the technical and economic point of view. Also it is showed a procedure for dechlorination of PCB´s at laboratory scale using the KPEG process, with estimations of reagent quantities and cost. Finally some recommendations of equipment for the process at major scale and the conclusions are presented.
Keywords : Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB´s); Dielectric mineral oils; Elimination methods; Chemical treatment; KPEG Process.
