Abstract

GIL, EDWIN  and  CASTRILLON, ELKIN. ELIMINATION OF "INCONSISTENCIES" OBSERVED IN THE DESIGN OF T SECTIONS OF STRUCTURAL CONCRETE SUBMITTED TO ULTIMATE FLEXURE. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2007, vol.74, n.151, pp.5-14. ISSN 0012-7353.

For the determination of the flexure capacity of concrete sections different algorithms according to the section form are set out. Naaman [5] observes an "inconsistency" in the design of T sections, proposes an adjustment to the expressions given in previous specifications, that are adopted in some of the recent design codes, determining variations in the results, such as bending moments significantly smaller than ones obtained with previous specifications. These results have created restlessness among other authors. In this paper the "inconsistency" observed by Naaman [5] is analyzed and a general adimensional analysis is proposed to eliminates the "observed inconsistency" and find the correct solution of the problem within the established specifications.

Keywords : Naaman; Castrillón; structural concrete; T Sections; Eje neutro; Equivalent distribution of stress; AASHTO LRFD; AASHTO Estándar; NSR 98.
