CASTRILLON, MARIANA; GARCIA, CLAUDIA e PAUCAR, CARLOS. EVALUATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE PARTICLE SIZE AND THE TIME OF THERMAL TREATMENT ON THE PHYSICAL-MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A COMPOSITE OF SINTERIZED ALUMINA INFILTRATED WITH A LANTHANUM GLASS. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2007, vol.74, n.152, pp.159-165. ISSN 0012-7353.
In this work, it was prepared a glassceramic composite infiltrating a glass of boron silicate of lanthanum obtained by melting at 1300°C on a matrix of commercial α -alumina sinterized at 1200ºC. It was evaluated the influence of the particle size of the alumina, the times of thermal treatment of the ceramic matrix on the densification and mechanical properties of the composite. The alumina matrix and the composite were characterized by means of scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and diffraction of rays X (DRX). It was determined the effect of the porosity and the infiltration grade on the mechanical resistance of the material, evaluated by means of flexion test. The optic properties of the composite were evaluated by means of spectroscopy. It was observed that the glass reinforces the ceramic matrix increasing its resistance until in 2230%, obtaining for the composite flexion resistance to the until of 426Mpa. The chromatic coordinates L *, a *, b * showed that the color is reproducible, and due to their shades it doesn't present inconveniences for its use in the dental area.
