Abstract
ROJAS, ANDRÉS F. and BARRAZA, JUAN M.. PARTITIONING OF ELEMENTOS IN TWO COALS FROM SOUTH WEST OF COLOMBIA. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2007, vol.74, n.152, pp.187-196. ISSN 0012-7353.
Results of partitioning of elements observed during beneficiation of two Colombian coals from South West using dense media separation are presented. Beneficiated coal fractions were obtained using two series separation stages. Both, feed coal from first stage and bottom from second stage were analyzed by X Ray Fluorescence (XRF) to determine the concentration of 33 elements. From those data, elementary partition factor was determined in order to know the affinity toward the phases organic or mineral matter. It was found that the affinity of elements increases toward the mineral matter when the particle size of coal fractions decreases.
