Abstract

MANTILLA, CESAR; PEDRAZA, JULIO  and  LAVERDE, DIONISIO. APLICATION OF ZETA POTENTIAL STUDIES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ALTERNATIVE PROCESS FOR THE FLOTATION OF FELDSPAR MINERALS. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2008, vol.75, n.154, pp.65-71. ISSN 0012-7353.

The results of an experimental study of flotation separation of feldspar using a collector mix are presented. The hydrofobicity evaluation of the particles was made by zeta potential measurements in the mains minerals in the system (quartz - feldspar). It was found that the collector mix drastically increase the hydrofobicity of the feldspar, whereas the floatability of the quartz was decreased, which is associated with strong chances in the zeta potential.

Keywords : Zeta potential; flotation; feldspar; quartz; collector.
