Abstract

VARGAS, XIOMARA et al. THE EVOLUTION OF THE VISCOELASTIC BEHAVIOR OF THE ASPHALT INDUCED FOR THERMO-OXIDATION IN SITU IN A RHEO-REACTOR. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2008, vol.75, n.155, pp.191-198. ISSN 0012-7353.

The present work presents the results of thermo-oxidation process of asphalt realized for first time in a rheo-reactor. The viscoelastic behavior of the asphalt it could be represented by a law of potency (G’ (w) ~ wn, G’’ (w) ~ w1). The variation of the exponent ‘n’ reflected the structural changes of asphalt induced by the thermo-oxidation process. In the range of experimental frequency and to 200 and 250°C, the elastic G' and viscous G'' modules showed a relation of the type: G’’ (w) ~ wn y G’ (w) ~ wn, this behavior is equivalent to ‘gel-weak’ and confirms the structural changes of asphalt induced by the thermo-oxidation process.

Keywords : asphalt; rheology; thermo-oxidation; rheo-reactor.
